Sri Sitaram Vaidic Adarsha Sanskrit Mahavidyalaya, Kolkata provides instructions & prepares students for courses leading to the Prak-Shastri, Shastri, Shastri Pratistha & Acharya courses, as approved by Central Sanskrit University, New Delhi. The examinations conducted and awarded degrees by the Central Sanskrit University through this Mahavidyalaya.

The Department of Higher Education, Govt. of West Bengal has declared the equivalency of Prak Shastri, Shastri, Shastri Pratistha & Acharya degrees with H.S., B.A., B.A. (Hons.) and M.A. degrees respectively awarded by the General University System and on its recommendation the West Bengal School Service Commission has considered the holders of Prak Shastri, Shastri, Shastri Pratistha, & Acharya degrees as equivalent to the holders of H.S. B.A., B.A(Hons.) and M.A. degrees for the purpose of higher studies and employment. The College Service Commission, West Bengal, has also recognised the equivalency of the degrees of Shastri and Acharya with B.A. and M.A. of general education system, for the purpose of higher studies and employment.
